Rüdesheim am Rhein

Rüdesheim: a small town with a big name

The world comes together in Rüdesheim am Rhein

RÜD on the numberplate - and everyone knows at once: they're from the Rhine, from Rüdesheim on the beautiful Rhine. The Niederwald monument and Rüdesheim wine are also world famous in addition to the Drosselgasse. Other than these well-known sites the area is almost unknown. Brömserburg, the toll tower, Ehrenfels. It's only 10 kilometres from Lorch. The train leaves every hour. You need a good five hours on the Rheinsteig hiking trail.

The Drosselgasse is 144 m long. The guest houses are thickly crowded together. Live music and people enjoying their wine as far as the eye can see. It can last as long as people are there. But there is also a life outside the Drosselgasse. In Siegfrieds Mechanischem Musik Kabinett music is played automatically. The collection is worth seeing and listening to.
You can find the key to the wine in the Weinmuseum Brömserburg or in the new wine experience cellar. You can float along the Binger Loch with the ferry and listen to the spine-chilling history of the toll tower (Mäuseturm) which stands in the middle of the Rhine. The Winzer Express takes guests on a guided tour around the town and at Käthe Wohlfahrt the whole year is about Christmas.

The other Rüdesheim - an excursion into silence

From the bustling Drosselgasse high up to the heights - that's what the cable car in Rüdesheim offers. It's worth it. You've hardly sat in the gondola lift than the adventure begins: Hovering over the vines - that's the life! You're surrounded by silence. Far below in the valley bustling life goes on. After a short interlude at the Niederwald monument, which is easily reached with the cable car, you dive down again - into the silence of the forest. In the Niederwald, which used to be a huge heritage park, you can stroll around for hours and listen to the call of the birds. In the vineyards you can also meet with silent bliss and discreet places with a view.

Our tip:
Ask for the night timetable for the cable cars and enjoy a guaranteed romantic gondola trip.

What else is available in Rüdesheim am Rhein

„Whenever I drive to Rüdesheim I'm overwhelmed by the splendid vineyards and grand setting of „our“ World Heritage Site. Best of all for me however is when I find time at sunrise to run up through these vineyards to the monument and enjoy the view of the valley.“
